• What If You Weren’t a Reader?

Recently, I’ve been working on moving and in the process, I’ve been touring apartments for potential places to live. When you’re touring apartments, sometimes you catch a glimpse into the lives of the residents. What are their interests? What kinds of people lived here and what kind of life could you expect?

I saw surfboards tacked to walls and cat litter all over the floor. I’ve seen marathon medals and dog beds and views of the California mountains. I’ve seen apartments with beautifully laid out furniture, but the one thing I couldn’t find in any of these apartments were books.

    There were no books.

  • What I’m Reading This Weekend – August 10, 2018

    Welcome to the weekend, folks!

I’m sorry for not responding to comments and posting as frequently. I have reasons for all of that and that includes moving! That’s right, I’LL BE MOVING AT THE END OF THE MONTH!

My husband and I decided to make the trek from New York to Los Angeles and we’ll be residing there soon. I cannot wait!

However, this means there will be a slight slowdown on the blog. I know you all love coming here and reading what’s up in my bookish world, so I’ll try to update as much as I can. For now, it’ll be a little bit slower until we’ve moved to our new place (and set up Internet).

For now, let’s take a look at what I’ll be reading this weekend!

  • To Annotate or Not to Annotate…

A couple of weeks ago, I pictured a dogeared page on my Bookstagram and people were up in arms. I got a few responses from folks who (with figurative tears in their eyes) were upset with me for folding over the page of a book.

To me, this doesn’t seem like an offense. I’ve done many things to books that people in the reading world should never hear about. I won’t say what because it’s pretty gruesome and I now have books in little plastic baggies because of it.

  • The Selection by Kiera Cass

I’ve been making strides on reading from my TBR list than going to the library or the bookstore. However after reading this particular one (and the first of a series), I might have borrowed the rest of the series from the library and plan on reading it in the next few days.

  • My Most Anticipated Reads of August 2018

August always feels like that throwaway month. It’s the month before school starts and as much fun as you’re having, there’s that little thing egging at you that summer is almost over. I hate that feeling and I’m an adult!

But I’m going to be honest, I’ve got a lot going on this month. I have a big move and packing and for some reason all the books I’ve collected feel like they’re closing in on me. It’s getting kind of claustrophobic in here.

So I might not be picking up any books this month from publishers. However, this month has got some treats for you if you’re interested! Definitely check these books out coming out in August.

  • City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I’ve decided to make The Mortal Instruments my next big fantasy series to read. Aside from the rereads that I’m doing for A Court of Thorns and Roses and finishing up The Lunar Chronicles. Of course I need more books to read and confuse myself with.

  • July 2018 Bookish Wrap Up

I can’t believe July is already over. It’s already over! Well, today is the last day, but it feels like it’s already over.

  • The Incendiaries by R.O. Kwon

According to the Internet, an “incendiary” is either someone who starts fires (in a military context) or someone who stirs up conflict. Probably both of these definitions makes sense for this novel.

Before I get into anything, I’m about to tell you now that this post will have spoilers. I just can’t talk about this novel without actually spoiling it, so look away if you haven’t read the book yet!

  • The Snowman by Jo Nesbo

This isn’t a book I normally choose to read, so I had to think a little bit how I would review it. I’ll do my best, but just so you know this might not be the best interpretation of this book.

  • What I’m Reading This Weekend – July 27, 2018

    Happy Friday, everyone!

I know this week has been wrought with a ton of reviews, but I feel like I’ve picked up my reading game recently. I honestly think it’s also to do with the readathon I did over the weekend. I’m just in the mood to read. I’ve got some blog posts unrelated to book reviews coming up. I just need to take the time to write them. Lol.

And this weekend is no exception. I’ve put together a great list of books to read throughout the weekend and into next week. Are any of these on your list? Will you be reading along with me?
