I feel like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon. I feel like I’ve stumbled across my final transformation into the person I’m supposed to be. I’m upgrading.
When I first started Simone and Her Books, the intention was to write about books and talk about them. It was for my goldfish brain to dump every thought and nuance onto a page for someone to read and consider. However, I’ve been thinking about the content I put out there and the kind of influence an influencer has.
Yeah, I could go full tilt and start selling you things you don’t need, but at the same time that feels…not right. I love sharing books and representing brands that have strong causes, but I’m just not the type of person who wants to sell you something just to sell you something.
And my bookstagram account has amassed a huge following, which is something I never thought could be possible. So I was thinking, if I have the ears of so many people, why not use that to offer something more than a new watch. In that stead, I’ve gone ahead and put together some changes I’ll be making here and on bookstagram:
There’s not going to be a lot of reviews on here
I’ve been posting my reviews on here since I started, but I also post my reviews over on Goodreads. It takes a few days for the reviews on my blog to release and you can always read then on Goodreads the moment they’re written.
So I’ve decided to phase out blog posts that review only one book. That doesn’t mean I won’t be reviewing books anymore. No, you can read full reviews of all the books I read on Goodreads. What you’ll see here are more recaps of what I’ve read and what I thought of them.
However, I do write more than just book reviews, so that won’t change. You’ll still see my wrap ups and anticipated publications and all that jazz that you loved before.
There’s going to be more kindness, love, and positivity posts here
I’m not the authority on human kindness, love, and positivity. I’m not a wellness coach or psychologist. I just know what I know from living my life and I want to share those blog posts with you. I believe in the power of kindness, love, and positivity. I believe that with these tools, you can do a lot with yourself and with the people around you. Because of this, I want to share those experiences with you and give you some insights into how I cope with certain things like my thyroid issues and my anxiety and depression.
I also want to share some fun stuff like recipes from cookbooks I’m trying out, fun events I attend, more bookstore tours, and more bookish thoughts that I always love writing about.
There might be a few partnership posts on here and instagram
I don’t want to inundate you with a ton of these, but there are some really cool brands that I want to work with more in the future. With that said, there will be times you’ll see an “ad” post or a “partnership” with a company that isn’t directly related to books. These will be minimal, but really mindful. Also, these brands will all be working on causes close to my heart. If anything, you’ll be helping a cause and helping me make a little bit of money.
There might be some future endeavors for you to check out as well
One thing I’ve been thinking about the most is starting a YouTube channel to supplement my blog. For a really long time, I didn’t know what I wanted to put on here. I was already writing reviews and doing wrap ups, so what else could I say? I finally figured that out and I hope to start filming and posting YouTube posts on here in the near future.
Another thing you might see is a Patreon account. I’m still working on all the details of this, but I do want you to know that reading and commenting and hanging out with me will always be available no matter what. I’ve just been doing a lot of thinking and want to try my hand at being compensated for the work I’m doing.
That’s all the changes I’m making! If you’ve come to my blog for the reviews, I’m sorry that I’m doing away with them.
I want to share more with you about my life and the person I am. I want to share those little moments that make up a great life and hope that you find inspiration in it all as well. I hope you follow along and participate and share your stories with me.
