I took a little break from OwlCrate and all of my subscription boxes because, frankly, I wasn’t impressed with the books I was receiving. However, for some reason, I decided to go back to OwlCrate and pick up the latest box.
This month’s theme was Find Me in the Forest and the entire box is filled with some great goodies all themed around the woods. I love the forest and I love hiking. My favorite thing has got to be sitting silently while the forest gets used to us being there and begins to come back to life. You can hear the birds chirping and woodland creatures appearing out of nowhere. Ever since I moved to New Jersey, I’ve been seeing way more deer than I ever anticipated seeing in my life. It’s so beautiful to watch a family of deer walk by and eating roughage along the way. I always scare them off, but for the brief moment I see them it feels like seeing magic.
And I think that’s the theme for this month. Magic in the woods. Or at least that’s what I like to think. I’ll post what was in the box after the jump to avoid any spoilers!
For this month’s book, you get a copy of Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore with an OwlCrate exclusive cover. I think my bookish friends will be super jealous while they get the version of the cover for everyone else. This cover is embossed with so many beautiful flowers on the cover. I’ll share with you what this is about below:
For nearly a century, the Nomeolvides women have tended the grounds of La Pradera, the lush estate gardens that enchant guests from around the world. They’ve also hidden a tragic legacy: if they fall in love too deeply, their lovers vanish. But then, after generations of vanishings, a strange boy appears in the gardens.
The boy is a mystery to Estrella, the Nomeolvides girl who finds him, and to her family, but he’s even more a mystery to himself; he knows nothing more about who he is or where he came from than his first name. As Estrella tries to help Fel piece together his unknown past, La Pradera leads them to secrets as dangerous as they are magical in this stunning exploration of love, loss, and family.
This sounds very familiar especially since I just read The Rules of Magic and the story is essentially the same. A family that’s cursed and have magical abilities. I think I might like this one.
I think my favorite thing in the box is this OwlCrate exclusive mug by artist Cara Kozik. This mug depicts Hagrid’s hut as well as the other mystical creatures that live deep in the Forbidden Forest of Harry Potter. I took a quick minute to look at the entire mug and it’s got a unicorn, and Firenze, and even Aragog spending some time with Ron Weasley’s car. So cute!
The box also comes with a small packet of tea from Riddle’s Tea Shoppe that has crazy blueberries in it and smells so delightful. I can’t wait to drink this tea.
And don’t forget to use your coaster by the artist Kristin Askland. It’s ridiculously cute with a little fox on it and you know it’s going to be my go-to coaster when I’m working at home and sitting at my desk.
You also get a cute little magnetic bookmark set from CraftedVan of Maurice Sendak’s beloved creatures from Where the Wild Things Are. It’s so appropriate for a forest-themed!
This was such a great box and I love everything that came with it. I know I’m missing some things here, but I wanted to highlight my top favorites. I hope you go out and share your box with the world!
